FOREST RANGERS WHO SAVE ANIMALS IN DANGER

Share

Recently, India reintroduced 8 South-east African cheetahs in Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh; whose extinction from India was confirmed since 1948. These Cheetahs were brought in India from Namibia, Africa on occasion of the birthday of our Honourable Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi. An event like this, draws our attention to a very important issue: wildlife conservation.

The practice of protecting wildlife species and their habitats, in order to maintain wildlife and to restore, protect or enhance natural ecosystems is called animal or wildlife conservation; and people who help in this wildlife conservation are called animal conservationist. Some of the well-known wildlife conservationists from India are Billy Arjan Singh, James Edward Corbett, Kailash Sankhala, MK Ranjit Singh.

Animal conservationists are in demand in many countries across the world. If you want to be a conservationist, study subjects like biology, animal husbandry or ecology; and position yourself in strategic countries such as San Marino, UAE, Syria, Libya etc. which need animal conservationists to protect wildlife.

Animals, an important part of nature, are being majorly endangered as a result of poaching. There are lot of laws against this practise but the common man can also contribute in animal conservation by stopping the use of animal products such as Ivory and leather; by creating awareness in the society; and by donating money to organisations preserving wildlife.

Animal conservation does not mean being one with animals only, but it means being one with nature. A small effort by each and every one of us can help a lot in conservation.

But in today’s fast paced life, nobody has the time to contribute to animal conservation. If you are that nobody; just plant a tree. If you don't have the time to protect animals; just protect their habitat. Deforestation, water pollution etc have led to the severe destruction of animal habitats; which is the major reason for the extinction of animals. Human beings are making life difficult for other creatures on the planet, for their own benefit. We should be aware of the fact, that, rapid cutting down of forest is equally harmful to the humans as it is for the animals.

Apart from this, use of materials like plastic is also harmful. Sometimes campers, who stay in the jungle throw plastic bags and bottles which attract animals. They unknowingly eat them which adversely affects their digestive system or chokes them to death. In some or the other way humans are inviting their doom.

But in the end we have to be thankful to those handful people, those conservationists, who are taking efforts to protect animals, forests, environment and ultimately life on this planet.
